First day of the tour and the 7 Lakes Road awaits us. Like the rest of this trip, this day will be accompanied by lakes and roads that make up the postcard images of the south. On this second day, we begin to venture into the deep green of southern Argentina and start to glimpse what will be the entrance to Chile's Valdivian Forest. Los Alerces National Park, past El Bolsón, will be one of the most beautiful stretches of the entire journey, and one of the few with dirt roads. Nothing beats a good Patagonian lamb dinner on Lake Rivadavia to get us started on our way to Esquel.

The jungle begins to reveal itself in all its glory, and Route 7 awaits us as we make our way to Chaitén.

The alarm bells ring, and as soon as we get out of bed, we have to be on our motorcycles. A day to enjoy riding, a day to rest on the ferries.
Leaving Chaitén, we will arrive at Caleta Gonzalo for our first ferry, which will take us to Pichicolo, and from there, 40 km on paved road to Caleta Puelche for our second ferry to Caleta Arena.
We will have lunch on that second ferry to save time and cover our last 64 km to arrive in Puerto Varas in the mid-afternoon.
